All our soap is completely natural and made in the “old school” manner, handcrafted and small batch processed making each batch unique with no two being exactly the same.
Old School Soap are made using the following base ingredients:
- Locally Sourced Olive Oil,
- Coconut Oil,
- Rice Bran Oil,
- Castor Oil,
- Locally Sourced Beeswax,
- Water,
- Sodium Hydroxide.
Some soaps contain “luxury” oils and ingredients such as Silk, Shea Butter, Hemp Seed Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Avocado Oil, Pomegranate Seed Oil or Jojoba Oil to provide extra moisturising and conditioning properties.
Old School Soap are coloured using Clays, and/or Extracts, Teas and Infusions of herbs, spices, fruits, flowers, and seeds, these natural ingredients provide the beautiful muted earthy colours of our soap.
Fragrance is provided by Essential Oils used at skin safe amounts. Our soaps are not highly scented as a small amount of essential oil can go a long way. Due to this the soaps have a light scent when dry, once exposed to warm water the scent lifts and becomes more apparent, but is not strong or overpowering.

I have always been interested in natural medicine and healing and have been researching, learning and enriching my knowledge of Herbalism, Essential Oils and Natural Heathcare throughout my adult life.
Several years ago I attended a workshop on soap making run by a trained chemist with an interest in self sufficiency. My objective at the time was to make enough natural soap for my household and possibly for gifts for extended family and friends.
Soaping however had other ideas. We quickly became overrun with soap so I took a short break from making to establish whether there would be a market for my surpluses.
I attended a business course, completed a business plan, cemented my ideas and ethics and developed a brand. Phew! Throughout this time I was also continuing to research and learn about soap, ingredients, and methods. I tested and tweaked recipes, getting better results each time until I was fully satisfied with the soaps that I was making.
Two years ago I attended a four day workshop on natural skincare run by a well regarded Herbalist . This formalised much of the knowledge that I had accumulated over the years and helped me to to finalise my recipes. It also gives me the opportunity and knowledge to develop Old School Soaps into a Natural Body Products brand in the future.
